Cold & Cough...(by kumar)

Breathing Problems

1. Drink warm water with a few drops of ginger juice throughout the day

2. Avoid non-vegetarian food. Avoid milk and milk products

3. Or, mix 1 tsp camphor in ½ cup of slightly warmed coconut oil. Apply on the chest

4. Or, take 3 tbsp of powdered Jathikkai / nutmerg. Put in 1 cup of sesame oil. Boil and cool. Apply on the chest

5. Or, mix 2 tbsp saunf in one cup of water. Boil it till reduced to half. Filter and take 1 tbsp every morning and evening

6. Or, grind ½ tsp mustard seeds, add honey and take. And mix equal quantities of mustard powder and rice flour. Add some water and boil till it reaches paste like consistency. Spread it on hand kerchief and foment the chest and neck when bearably hot

7. Or, mix one 1 tbsp of camphor powder in half cup coconut oil. Apply on chest

8. For children - Smear a little mustard oil on the betal leaves, warm them and apply over chest when bearably hot


Bronchitis

1. Mix ½ tsp of turmeric powder in a glass of milk and take 3 times a day

2. Or, mix ½ tsp each of powders of ginger, pepper and cloves. Mix with honey and take or take it with tea

3. Or, take half litre of steaming water in a pan. Add a few drops of camphor oil. Inhale the vapor. Stop if you feel dizzy

4. Or, smear a little mustard oil on the betal leaves, warm them and apply over chest when bearably hot

Common cold

1. As prevention of cold, especially in children. Boil 10 tulsi leaves in a glass of cow’s milk and take

2. To treat cold, cut into pieces 10 grams of ginger. Boil in a cup of water. Strain and add sugar and drink when hot. Or put the boiled ginger water into tea before adding tea leaves and drink tea

3. Or, mix ½ tsp of turmeric powder in a glass of milk and take 3 times a day

4. Or, take ¼ tsp ajwain powder and 1 tsp turmeric powder in a bowl. Add 1 cup boiling water. Take 1 tsp of this water with 1 tsp honey

5. Or, take a pan contain boiling water. Add 1 tsp crush ajwain seeds and inhale emerging vapours frequently. Or add 1 tbsp turmeric powder to the boiling water and inhale vapours

6. Or, boil fresh ginger pieces in 1 glass boiling water. Strain and take with sugar for taste

7. Or, boil 2 cups of water for 10 minutes, with 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger + 1 tsp cinnamon powder + 1 tsp Licquorice. Take 1 cup of this decoction once every three hours sweetened by 1 tsp honey

8. Or, buy fresh amla and shade dry. Make powder from it and store. Every night, just before you go for sleep, take one tsp, add to some hot water. Drink. Follow it by one glass of warm water – it prevents cold on a long term basis

9. Or, black jeera + Omam + Camphor. Powder all the three and tie in a cloth. Then start inhaling. It would give good relief

10. Or, put little omam and turmeric in fire and inhale the smoke

11. Or, take betal leaves, pepper and jeera and grind and have it boiled once. Strain and add honey and give the patient one or two doses as necessary

12. Or, stand before cooker and take the steam

13. Or, upto 12 years of age, rub virali manjal, add little lime powder and boil and apply on forehead

14. Or, tie in a cloth some omam and keep inhaling

15. Or, grind pepper and apply on forehead

16. Or, put ajwain seeds in boiling water and inhale vapor to open blocked nose

17. Or, mix one tsp each of betal leaf juice + fresh ginger juice + Tulsi juice + honey and take

Phlegm, Eosinophilia

1. Boil a cup of water with ½ tsp turmeric powder and 2 crushed garlic cloves. Drink

2. Or, mix ½ tsp pepper powder in warm water and add 1 tsp palm candy. Take this drink at bed time

3. Or, take juice of 15 tulsi leaves, add with honey and take

4. Or, boil 20 tulsi leaves in 2 cup water and drink

5. Or, take 1 cup ground mustard in a cloth bag and drop in sufficient water and boil. Pour the decoction into half a bucket of hot water. Soak both the feet for half an hour

Cough

1. From fresh ginger, extract 1 tsp juice. Similarly extract 1 tsp juice from each of tulsi leaves and betel leaves. Mix them all with 1 tsp honey and take 3 times a day

2. Or, grate a few garlic cloves, mix with honey and take 1 tsp daily

3. Or, prepare tea of ½ tsp each ginger paste, cloves and cinnamon powder. Add honey and drink

4. Take 3 times a day juice of ginger with honey

5. Take juice of 15 tulsi leaves. Add 1 tsp each of juice of ginger, betel, and honey

6. Take 15 tulsi leaves with jaggery and chew

7. Mix ½ tsp ajwain seeds with 2 cloves and a pinch of salt. Powder and add to warm water and sip it frequently

8. Take arisi thippili, dry fry and powder and store. Take half tea spoon of this powder, add honey and give it in betal leaf after removing the stem of leaf

9. Take 4 pepper and 10 tulsi leaves. Grind them little and boil in water and drink

10. Dry fry pepper and powder and keep

11. If cough due to cold, take the powder mixed with honey four five times a day. If dry cough, take it in ghee

12. For dry cough, fry 3 tbsp of raisins in 1 tsp ghee and take

13. For chain cough, Take murungai keerai and salt and hand crush them. Add lime powder and apply on throat

14. Mix one tsp each of betal leaf juice + fresh ginger juice + Tulsi juice + honey and take

15. Take 2 tsp betal leaf juice

16. Boil ¼ tsp each of powders of vasambu and liquorice in 2 glasses of water and reduce to half. Add honey. Sip three times a day

17. Lick a small piece of vasambu

18. Boil ½ powdered thippili in one glass of milk and drink

Whooping Cough


1 Make a mixture of juices of ginger, lemon and onions in equal quantity
Take it 2 tbsp thrice a day
